Hi, I’m Robyn—your local guide to Steveston.

I’m a fourth-generation Stevestonite with deep roots in this village. My family has lived here since the 1920s from working the canneries and running businesses on Moncton, to gathering at Garry Point, biking the dyke, and watching the community evolve into what it is today.

Steveston isn’t just a place to me—it’s always been home. It’s where the scent of salmon barbecuing on July 1st, the sweetness of cottonwood, and the muddy river air take me straight back to childhood. It’s where I went to school and played, had my first job, and where my parents have always lived. It’s also where I first discovered my love for tourism, heritage, and ecology.

After two decades in Vancouver and on the Sunshine Coast, I’ve recently returned—and no matter where life takes me, Steveston will always be home.

Why I Built This Site

Steveston has so much to offer visitors, but the information is scattered: some on tourism sites, some in museums and libraries, and some in the stories passed down through generations. I wanted to bring it all together in one place:

A practical guide for visitors
A celebration of local food, nature, and history
A living archive of stories from the people who know this place best

This is the guide I wish existed for people visiting my hometown. So I decided to build it.
